The chateau is situated on the banks of the Dordogne River and enjoys panoramic views over the surrounding countryside and the river. It comprises 4.25 hectares of land consisting of meadows and wooded areas. The Chateau is a former fortified farmhouse built in the 18th century, this group of buildings forms an elegant square courtyard accessible via a stone archway. Well set back down a long drive in peaceful surroundings and yet near to local restaurants and croissants for breakfast! The main house as well as most of the outbuildings have been entirely renovated with quality materials and with the will to preserve the period features such as the beautiful fireplaces, the parquet floors, the exposed beams and the stone staircase. A lot of stone work has been done on the interior as well as the exterior elements, giving more character to this place full of history. The main building comprises on the ground floor a 25 m² (269 sq ft) entrance hall with a terracotta floor and a beautiful stone staircase and a large 35 m² (376 sq ft) sitting room with stone fireplace, original parquet floors and exposed beams, a music room and a library. There are 2 bedrooms, one with a shower room and the other with a bathroom on the ground floor. To the right of the entrance is a billiard room with period woodwork, a very large kitchen with stone fireplace, underfloor heating, bay windows overlooking the rear garden of the building, a large dining room of 39m² with tiled floor heating and a marble fireplace. The main staircase from the entrance and the rear staircase gives access to the first floor which has 6 further comfortable bedrooms with magnificent views over the Dordogne or the courtyard, each with its own W.C. and shower room or bathroom. For entertainment there is a restored cellar converted into a bar/cinema room with underfloor heating, a gym in an old barn, a private function room with a wine bar, and access to a terrace to enjoy a panoramic view of the river. To complete the picture an 11 x 6m pool, heated by a heat pump, with an electric cover, runs on salt and includes a pool house with a fitted outdoor kitchen with barbecue and access to the technical room. The Chateau has an efficient surveillance camera system, the waste water is channelled into 3 septic tanks (new) and the heating is mainly provided by an oil-fired boiler for the Chateau and by a gas-fired boiler for the caretaker's house / Gite. The property has various outbuildings, some of which have been restored and converted to diversify the income of the Chateau. There is a large function room of approximately 239m2 in a barn with a seating capacity of 250 people used for wedding receptions with a catering kitchen in a cellar next door. There is also a covered terrace with 2 equipped bars for guests and 2 W.C. A gite / caretaker's cottage with its own garden has 3 bedrooms, a bathroom, a shower room with W.C., a sitting room, a kitchen, a laundry room. There is a lovely pigeon house with a quiet office, overlooking a spring with its stone building. Beautiful trees adorn the grounds and there is access to the river so that boating from the property can be considered. This beautiful property is ideally situated, Libourne and its TGV station is 40 minutes away, Bordeaux and its international airport about 1h15 and many small villages with amenities are nearby.

The largest ‘department’ in the south west’s ‘Nouvelle Aquitaine’ region, the Gironde is home to the spectacular city and vineyards of Bordeaux. Its renowned wine region, separated by the Gironde estuary, is made up of the ‘Left Bank’ and ‘Right Bank’ appellations (AOC) which include Saint-Emilion, Pomerol, Medoc, Saint-Estephe, Margaux, Graves, Sauternes, Entre-deux-Mer and Bordeaux, which produce some of the finest wines in the world.

Located on the Atlantic coast, the Côte d’Argent is home to the tallest sand dune in Europe, the ‘Dune de Pilat’ along with the popular holiday destinations of Arcachon, Cap Ferret and Pyla-sur-Mer, offering coastal escapes to thousands of French and international visitors each year.

Gironde’s capital, the city of Bordeaux itself, is perched on the river Garonne and is a UNESCO world heritage site, blessed with 18th Century architecture and must-see historical monuments such as the Pey-Berland Tower, the Porte Cailhau, the Saint-André Cathedral, the Grand-Théâtre and Place de la Bourse.

Only 2.5 hours from Paris by train (TGV), Bordeaux, Bordeaux Metropole and its countryside have fast become one of the most popular areas in France to live, work and enjoy life due to its buzzing culture, historical sites, and magnificent landscape.
