This historic building was constructed in the late 17th century and remained in the same family for 300 years. Since 2006 it has been sympathetically restored and has retained its period features - rustic plasterwork, feature fireplaces, chestnut panelling and tiling - and is currently a comfortable eight bedroom family home with a two bedroom guest cottage in its former pigeonnier. It has been re-wired, re-plumbed and a new oil fired central heating boiler installed. The property is charming and well presented and has an easy flow through the rooms. It is complemented by its 3 hectares of well tended formal gardens and woodland as well as informal grass areas around the house. There is a salt water swimming pool and several terraces where the surrounding countryside can be enjoyed. Adjacent to the house is a large barn which could be used for a variety of purposes. There are several living rooms, formal and informal, overlooking the gardens, a large dining room, a country style dining kitchen, offices and utility room. Upstairs there are eight individually styled bedrooms, mostly with ensuite facilities making it ideal as an upmarket Chambre d’Hôtes. It sits at the end of a long drive off a quiet road a few kilometres from a pretty village and a few more to larger towns, which offers a wide range of facilities -supermarkets, banks, post office as well as several smaller shops, boutiques, cafes and a weekly market. There are excellent sporting facilities and thriving clubs. The surrounding Chalosse area is approximately 1 hour from the unspoilt beaches of Les Landes and 90 minutes from the ski slopes of the Pyrénées. Eugenie les Bains with its Michelin star restaurant, spa and golf is just 30 minutes away. This area is rich in culture and history and provides plenty of attractions for holidaymakers and locals. The historic city of Pau with its attractions is 40 minutes and its airport offers 9 flights a day to Paris. The international airports of Toulouse and Bordeaux can be reached easily via the autoroutes which are less than 30 minutes away and Pau and Dax have TGV stations.

One of the most popular surfing destinations in Europe along the Côte d’Argent, the Landes region in South West France offers a stunning coastline, seaside towns and villages, combined with a vast natural landscape made up of maritime pine forest.
Popular with both residents and tourists, the region has plenty to offer, including many hidden gems; the Gallo-Roman vestiges, famous abbeys such as Saint-Sever and impressive renaissance bastides, such as Mont-de-Marsan. After the Great War, its architecture evolved further and was heavily influenced by the ArtDeco movement, a style which is well appreciated in the palaces of Dax.
The second largest department in France and home to the largest forest in the country, the Landes follows the Atlantic coast from the popular holiday destination of Biscarrosse, down the coastline to Biarritz and Bayonne.
Stretching more than 9,000km², the Landes is a sought-after region for real estate, offering beach life, countryside living and equestrian estates as well as the gateway to the Pyrénées Atlantiques region and its mountains.
